A South Korean blockchain identity startup, Metadium is all set to release its Software Development Kit (SDK) on Unity’s Asset Store, a leading game engine. The news came through a press release on March 15th. The document describes the partnership as a strategic move.
Metadium plans to secure a larger gamer user base with its blockchain-powered ID solution for game services. Moreover, it also opens up a possibility for its ID solution to be used by 6.5M Unity game developers around the world. Also, with its management application “Keepin”, Metadium plans to reach out to the public and expand on its user base.
At a TechCrunch conference in September Unity’s CEO, John Riccitiello said that the engine is currently being used in half of the world’s games. In addition to more than half of mobile and Nintendo-platform, Metadium is South Korea’s first identity blockchain project to create a decentralized identity ecosystem.
Company’s close source also mentioned that Metadium will announce more partnerships as a part of the Metadium Partnership Program. Also, more information will be shared across Metadium’s social channels soon.
Justin Park, CEO of Metadium stated,
Recently Enjin, an Ethereum-based digital asset tokenization startup also launched an SDK for Unity. Also, a patent from Unity related to in-game cryptocurrency tokens was published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Metadium focuses on introducing “self-sovereign identity” to the real world. This implies that individuals are owners of all aspects of their own identity in the offline and online world.
With Coinplug as a technology partner, Metadium managed to raise 38,000 ETH in Q3 of last year through a private sale to a limited number of institutional investors. The investors included FBG Capital, Block Asset, 500 Startups, and #Hashed.
